How did you meet and how long have you been in the wedding photography business?
We met while both were studying photography at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. In time, we discovered that our personalities, philosphy and photographic styles complimented each other's beautifully. Within a year of meeting, we decided to create Natural Expressions Wedding Photography, LLC in August of 2003.
What is unique about your wedding albums?
We are very proud of our albums. They are designed by us (Laura is a professional graphic designer), handcrafted in New Zealand by Queensberry Albums and hand assembled by us. These albums take over 40 hours of labor to create. We do not use templates in our designs — the album is created with the feel of your wedding day taken into every account.
What type of albums do you offer?
We feature custom-designed, traditionally matted albums. They are timeless with a contemporary feel and our couples love them!
Do I have to purchase an album now?
If you choose to purchase an album with your package, you will receive a complimentary engagement or budoir sesson. In addition, you will receive the album at the current price and avoid future price increases.
What does it mean to be a Certified Professional Photographer?
To acheive the credential of Certified Professional Photographer, a photographer must pass a comprehensive written exam measuring their technical expertise; they also must submit their work to a panel of judges for review and approval. The certification is earned through the organization, Professional Photographers of America (PPA). We both are proud members of PPA and have earned our CPP credential.
What kind of cameras do you use?
We both use high-end, professional, digital SLR cameras.
Do you offer the high resolution images on DVD?
All the images in your wedding collection undergo an editing and art process which includes basic retouching, image enhancements, black and white and sepia conversions, as well as art effects. These images are included with the commissioning rate and come on DVD with license for personal use and printing.
Can we also have all of our proofs in paper format?
We offer proofing magazines, which are 10x13 spiral-bound book (six images per page printed on photographic paper) in a leather-bound folio.
Will we be able to see our photos online and purchase them online?
Yes, we have a partnership with www.pictage.com. Your photos will be available online approximately 4 weeks from your wedding day. Once you release the event, your friends and family can also view your wedding photos. Purchases can be made directly from that site – in addition to reprints and enlargements, they offer beautiful thank you cards, greeting cards, and coffee table books.
How many wedding do you photograph in a weekend?
We will only photograph one wedding per weekend. Every wedding is new and special to us; we love to share the day with couples and strive to capture the "natural" feeling of their day. We put all of our creative energy into the very important documentation of your day.
Can I hire just one of you to photograph my wedding day?
We work cooperatively at all weddings. This allows us to simultaneously capture moments from two different perspectives which creates a beautiful visual story of the day.
What if your packages don't seem to fit my needs?
We would be more than happy to customize a package to fit your needs. Give us a call or e mail and we can talk about what is important to you. We will then create a custom package quote for you.
Do you photograph from a "shot list"?
Our philosophy is to focus on the natural feeling of your wedding day. We try to remain as discreet as possible to allow the day to unfold naturally. We do not stage photographs or spend a lot of time posing subjects. Your job is to live in the moment and ours is to document the day. We will; however, work with you to compose a list of formal group shots that you would like taken – of various family and bridal party groups. In addition, we do take some time to create a few portraits of the new bride and groom.
I want to be a "Natural Expressions" couple – what do I do next?
Hiring a photographer for your wedding day is a very personal decision — one we feel should be based on a style and personality fit. If, after looking over our information you feel that we might be a good fit for you, give us a call or fill out the contact form on our website. Let us know the date so we can check for availability. We can then set up a time and place to meet so we can talk further and you can view some sample albums. We look forward to hearing from you!
